How the count works
We count carriers whose FMCSA operating authority covers household goods and group them by the physical address on their federal record. A carrier with interstate authority can work in other states too, so a state’s count shows where movers are based, not where they operate.
What it does not tell you
Being on the federal record is a floor, not a mark of quality. More carriers in a state does not mean better movers. Check any company’s authority, insurance filings and out-of-service status on the FMCSA SAFER snapshot before you book.
